So to start this off, This is a favorite song of mine, “Pearl Jam – …Small Town”. I am not a huge Pearl Jam fan, however this one is just something that I feel I can always relate to. The melody of the song and Eddie’s voice just really make this a fun song to Listen to every once and a while. Over the years it has never gotten old to me.

Pearl Jam primarily made it’s name in the Grunge scene of the early 90′s a time frame that really had strong imagery and definite tones. I try to incorporate grit and grunge into a lot of website by using plaids and dark colors. Anyway…here it is.

From what I’m being told the team is working with Harvard University and something could comes from those talks soon! Im extremely excited to be a part of this project that could potentially be used by one of the most prestigious education institutes in the world. They have a terrific business model and a great leadership team that really seems to know what they are doing.

I created Almightyphilly.com for Adam Smith, a passionate Philadelphia Sports blog writer.  Adam contacted me looking to take his old wordpress.com hosted site and create a hosted version of WordPress with his own personal theme and turn it from a blog into a possible career.  Adam wanted the ability to have his viewers interact with not only himself, but with each other.  I found this the perfect opportunity to use Buddypress.  Buddypress is a great tool which turns an ordinary WordPress install into a powerful user community.

I created this theme based off of CSS3 and Html5 elements, it really is on the cutting edge of Web 2.0.   My favorite part of this job was actually being able to read the terrific content that Smitty posts on the site on a daily basis,  I personally am a Philadelphia Sports fan so this was a marvelous opportunity to have some fun with his design!

PaddyKakeBakes.com is a fantastic website that I had the pleasure to build for Patti Clark.  Patti wanted to design a website which showed off her amazing Cake decorating business.  We wanted to implement a design that was both creative and visually stunning, much like her Cakes.

I built this website on WordPress as a platform so that Patti could easily manage this website on her own.   Some key features of this website are the custom Create A Cake page, the nextgen gallery and S.E.O. customization.

Client: John McNamee

Company: PieComic.com

This design was done for John McNamee of PieComic.com.  John is an incredible illustrator and cartoonist who has been creating his comic strip for years.  He reached out to me to design his new website using WordPress and Comicpress.  John really needed a way to display his latest cartoons in a simple to use, easy interface.  I created a Custom WordPress theme for him and introduced the Comicpress plugin to make the site easy to manage.  We hedged out exactly how John wanted his comics to display, which to archive, and how exactly to archive them.

In the end, this project took me a little more then a few weeks and we had John zipping away at what he does best, create amazing comics.

I created this project for CyclingReporter.com, a New York based website dedicated to all things cycling related.  This is one of my favorite projects that I have recently created based on the pure look of the website.  When you use it, it feels very lightweight, and easy to use.  I love the overall theme and the white and light gray compliment each other beautifully.

The client was already using WordPress as the content management system, which really made it easy for me to just dive in and create something that I knew he was going to love.   Designing on wordpress is so simple and easy to do if you know what exactly it is that you want to do.   I used the framework of a pre-existing magazine style theme and heavily modified to the point where it totally changed how the theme functions from top to bottom.   The client really wanted to maximize screen real estate, so we focused on making everything tighter, brighter and lighter.

Client: Raffi

Company: Gardenology.org

Work:CSS+Mediawiki+Html, Javascript.

This design utilized Mediawiki 1.15.1, the already pre established Monobook skin and some strong CSS work as well as plug-in installation.   The client insisted upon using the very familiar look and feel of the mediawiki software, which also powers Wikipedia.com and its assorted child websites.  The reason for this is that users would be given a Wikipedia like experiences however dedicated only to plants and gardening.

The client laid out a ton of the footwork for me already,  the majority of my job was to tweak the site  and install plugins and offer css support.  Some of the work on this site that I did included installation and modification of the AWS Forum plug-in,  which offers users a browser based discussion forum with no additional need to sign in.  Using this single sign on system allows users to seamlessly interact.  In addition to that, I also modified and installed the SocialProfile extension, integrated Semantic Mediawiki for better response time, FCKeditor for ease of use and then assorted minor changes to the css stylesheet.

This website was designed back in November of 2009,  not only a job for cash but a job of passion.  I am an avid hockey fan so when I saw that this site needed help I sprung into action and designed this theme.  Based on wordpress magazine themes, I developed this new iteration to give the site a professional look and feel while still maintaining an edge.

I used WordPress as the platform for this site due to the need to constantly update, post, and manage content on a whim.  One of the requests I received from the client was to incorporate a rotating content space at the top of the page so that all the latest articles appeared and were featured.  To accommodate this I incorporated the plug in “Featured Content Gallery”,  the site really turned out great.

Company: CrossFit Hardcore

This was one of the very first WordPress Designs that I worked with this year.   The client is CrossFit Hardcore, which is a subsidiary of the global parent company, CrossFit.  CrossFit is a global gym and health company with franchises throughout the world.   It was a pleasure working with one of the affiliates, this particular crossfit is based in Florida.

I used WordPress as the platform  as the client requested some sort of new platform coming from there old site which is based on typepad.   We discussed many options and WordPress really came out as the top choice for its ease of use, extendability, and the ability for a user to come in and post news to the site knowing absolutely no coding.

The client also requested integration with social media, including social networking and integration of all of the companies various sites.   To accomodate this request I incorporated a Twitter feed, the ability for the twitter account o be updated to reflect when a new post had been published,  connection with the companies YouTube channel by creating a Featured Video section, and also integrating Facebook Connect.

This site has not been published live yet as we are working with the client for many future designs down the line that they would like to integrate!
